“Pssst… psssssst… aiyyo!
Are you afraid to die, or do you wanna live forever?
Tell me, which one?” – 2Pac
Fear of death can be debilitating. When I was a kid I tried to make sense of it. Religion gave an answer to my worries. Do this and that, and you can live forever in a place of eternal bliss. Eternal bliss sounds good. I should be able to go to any lengths to attain eternal bliss. Why wouldn’t I? It’s eternal. It’s bliss. Pretty good deal if you ask me?
The doubts were always there, however.
Fast forward to now (It’s always been now). That place of eternal bliss that some call heaven finally makes sense. It is not outside you, however. It is you. It is I. It is oneness.
The thing that is scared is the mind – the layers of experience in the mind. The thing that is scared is no more you than a rock. It is DNA-encoded reaction patterns. Fear of death is a chemical. Cortisol is programmed to pulse in any situation that seemingly lowers the chances for your DNA to live on.
Awareness is not scared. Awareness – the unified field of existence; the ocean of existence; the unified field; the field of consciousness (Thank you John Hagelin) – is everything. It is the experiencer – The seer of your thoughts. If there were no awareness, there would be no one to see the fear of death. It would just be a program in a mind.
The ego is scared of death – annihilation – because the ego, the mind, is not eternal.
Awareness – You in the deepest sense is not scared. You are just aware.
The ego is formed when you attach to things. When you make judgment whether something is good or bad, creating the world of duality, you add to the ego. You laid the seed of “I”, “me” and “mine” the first time you made a judgment. The subsequent judgments were water and soil for the seed.
“Judge not, that ye be not judged.”
The growth of an ego is a perfectly natural part of the human experience. It is oneness experiencing itself in the context of duality. Embrace it and realize that it is part of you. It is you. But realizing the process is there provides you with the knowledge of awareness. You can go back to that place of only love. You can go back to how you started this journey – as a child without judgments and only awareness.
“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Pure awareness. The universal field of intelligence IS heaven. It is always there, but we are experiencing ourselves through the lens of duality. We will all return there when we die. Death does not exist. There is no nothingness. There is either the human experience or the sea of consciousness. And those two are the same. With the knowledge of pure presence – knowing it is a potential part of the human experience – you can experience heaven on earth. First it will manifest in short moments of clarity – Later in longer periods of bliss.
If you’re still afraid of death’s touch, you should listen to Mark Twain:
“I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.”
Inner peace,
G
